CATTSCATTS Program

ERAD conducts the evaluation of the University of Arizona CATTS program. CATTS is funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation and is dedicated to advancing math, science and technology on all educational levels. The CATTS team collaborates with local K-12 schools, community outreach programs and University of Arizona outreach projects to make this happen. The goal of CATTS is to provide opportunities for CATTS fellows and future scientists to become more aware and more appreciative of the importance of science/math/technology education. The program also strives to strengthen the bond between the university and the local K-12 community. The CATTS project is directed by Dr. James Knight, professor in the Department of Agriculture Education of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Purpose and Objectives of the Evaluation

The goal of the evaluation is to determine the extent to which CATTS fellows perceive that they are developing knowledge and skills associated with the helping k-12 students learn the concepts associated with math and science. We also evalute the extent to which K-12 teachers who work with the felows begin also use teaching techniques that enhance student inquiry.
